Going Home For Christmas!

Seven healthy seal pups will be returned to the wild on Monday 28th November 2016 in the last big release of the year by the rescue team at Hunstanton SEA LIFE Sanctuary.

All common seal pups rescued between June and September, they are to be freed on the shore outside the Sanctuary at 4pm...just as the sun sets.

Fiona They range from Fiona (photo left) who was just two days old when rescued from the RSPB reserve at Titchwell Marsh, to Dr Robotnik, who was between two and three months old when picked up at Bacton.

The luckiest of the bunch is a pup called Ash, who was seriously ill and dangerously underweight when rescued from the Hunstanton Power Boat Ramp Rescue site on 18th June 2016.
"We were not expecting him to make it, " confessed care team member Nathaniel Stephenson, "but he´s our little warrior. Not only did he pull through but he is now one of the liveliest of the group."

Fiona, Ash (photo right) and Dr Robotnik will be released along with Lara, Snorlax, Jax and Jiggly Puff.

Sally, a resident common seal "That will leave just resident seals Amber, Pendle, Sally (photo left), Tyne, Silver and Miley in the outdoor pool," said Nathaniel.

Nathaniel and his colleagues may even enjoy a little bit of respite over the festive season after one of their busiest years ever for seal rescue.
