Portal was rescued on 1st January 2016
Portal, 2-3 months old male grey seal pup, was rescued on 1st January 2016 by members of the British Divers Marine Life Rescue (BMDLR) team and taken to their holding facility as Gweek´s seal hospital was full. The pup was transferred to Gweek a few days later.

He weighed 17.5kgs and had ulcerations in his mouth, nasal discharge and minor wounds of the flippers.
Update - 5th February 2016 : Portal has completed his course of treatment with antibiotics and is now recovering at the Sanctuary!

Update - 1st March 2016 : Portal sadly passed away on 26th February 2016; it is always very sad when one of the rescued pups dies but sometimes these little ones just don´t have enough anti-bodies and strength in them to pull through, despite the best efforts of all the staff at Seal Sanctuary.

Each pup at the Cornish Seal Sanctuary can cost up to £1,000+ to rescue, rehabilitate and release, if you would like to help by adopting a pup (Adoption £25 each pup) or make a donation towards a pup´s rehabilitation,

The staff at the Cornish Seal Sanctuary do a brilliant job and without your help, they couldn´t continue.
