Seal Pup Releases
Polly-Ann along with Blue, Puffin, Daggernose, Dusky, Hector, Bala and Hawksbill, were released back into the wild at Hunstanton beach on 9th October 2017.

Rescued Seal Pups
Sturgeon, male common seal pup, was rescued on 14th September 2017 from Southwold in Suffolk.
Sturgeon was rescued after he was reported by a member of the public with some wounds to his rear body and flippers. Sturgeon
Narwhal, male common seal pup, was rescued on 1st October 2017 from Great Yarmouth beach.

Anguilla, female adult common seal, was rescued on 8th October 2017 from the riverbank by Denver Sluice near Downham Market.
She was underweight and malnourished although she weighed 50kgs. Anguilla
Fossa, female common seal pup, was rescued on 29th October 2017 from Hunstanton beach.
She was found with blood around her mouth and was coughing heavily possibly from lungworm. Fossa
Aayla had an operation recently to remove two digits from her front flipper.
Once the stitches have been removed and the wound has healed, she will be returned to the wild, hopefully before Christmas. Aayla

Oban´s Resident Seals
Lora, Pippa (photo below) and Macey are having a girly holiday from The Scottish SEA LIFE Sanctuary in Barcaldine near Oban.

Their seal pools are having some much needed refurbishment work currently being carried out. This will take about 4 weeks. They should be back home in December 2017.

In the meantime, Lora, Pippa and Macey are enjoying being with Amber, Sally, Tyne and Silver.

Penguin Chick
The baby Humboldt penguin chick born on 3rd May 2017 has been stuck with his nickname McFluffyface, he is doing really well.
Mcfluffyface This is the first chick to be born at Hunstanton. The Animal Care Team staff are very proud to help with the rearing of this handsome chick.

If You Discover a
Seal Pup in the Wild!
If you should discover a seal pup that seems to be in distress, or is alone, what you do next could mean the difference between life and death for the animal.

DO keep your distance; DON´T attempt to handle the pup; DON´T attempt to put the pup in the sea; DON´T ignore the situation; DO tell the appropriate organisation.

The Animal Care Team are on call around the clock to race to the rescue of seal pups in trouble anywhere around the coast.

Back at the Sanctuary, pups receive expert veterinary care and are gradually weaned from a liquid diet to whole fish in the purpose built hospital.

Then it´s to the outdoor pools to gain weight and build strength and stamina ready to resume life in the wild.



What to do if you find a dead seal on beach!
If you come across a dead seal, the advice is not to touch or go near it, please call
