Rescued Seal Pups
This month saw the arrival of Bala and Pollan (Polly-Ann) in the hospital.
Bala, female common seal, was rescued on 2nd August 2017 from Hunstanton beach. This pup had some nasty bite mark wounds to her body. Bala

The pups will be moved to the outside seal enclosure pool in the next month for their final stage of rehabilitation before they are released back into the wild later this year.

Penguin Chick
The baby Humboldt penguin chick who is a boy is still to be named, he will be 4 months old on the 3rd of September 2017.

He is growing into a very handsome chick.

Pendle
Pendle was moved to Scarborough SEA LIFE Sanctuary in mid July 2017, we caught up with him in his new home with the rest of the resident seals, Bruno, Mando, Ed, Herbie and Bubbles (plus a rescued Grey seal pup), he has settled in really well.

If You Discover a
Seal Pup in the Wild!
If you should discover a seal pup that seems to be in distress, or is alone, what you do next could mean the difference between life and death for the animal.

DO keep your distance; DON´T attempt to handle the pup; DON´T attempt to put the pup in the sea; DON´T ignore the situation; DO tell the appropriate organisation.

Seal Pups on the beach
The Animal Care Team are on call around the clock to race to the rescue of seal pups in trouble anywhere around the coast.

Back at the Sanctuary, pups receive expert veterinary care and are gradually weaned from a liquid diet to whole fish in the purpose built hospital.

Then it´s to the outdoor pools to gain weight and build strength and stamina ready to resume life in the wild.


What to do if you find a dead seal on beach!
If you come across a dead seal, the advice is not to touch or go near it, call West Norfolk council on 01553 616200.

If you find a stranded living seal, please call the SEA LIFE Sanctuary on 01485 533576.
