|Hermione was rescued on 24th September 2009|
|A two day old pup which was abandoned by her mother and found on the beach at Portreath was rescued on 24th September 2009 by members of the Animal Care Team.|
The pup is a little girl and has been named Hermione.
Update: 1st October 2009 - Hermione has now been moved through from isolation to the main hospital. Hermione still very young is receiving multi-milk and has a welly boot for company.
Update: 10th October 2009 - Hermione is now in water in the hospital for her first swimming lesson, she seems to be getting the hang of it slowly.
Update: 23rd October 2009 - Hermione has been moved down to the outside nursery pool 2.
|Update: This photo of Hermione was taken on 6th November 2009, she is now back in the hospital. Click here to see further photos.|
Update: 9th November 2009 - Hermione as you can tell from her photo is now back in the hospital. Hermione refused to eat any fish, so she was taken back to the hospital. |
In hospital pen 3 Hermione is happy to be hauled out on the side, and has started to eat again. She has also being given a course of charcoal as she has a little bloated tummy, because of trapped wind. Hopefully this will help her and she will feel better.
Hermione's flipper tag number is 02 (light blue).
Update: 13th November 2009 - Hermione and Ginny have now been put in a pen together to encourage Hermione to feed for herself, we only know which one is Hermione as we have already tagged her.
Update: 21st December 2009 - Hermione is in nursery pool 1 with Scabbers and Skeeter. Hermione is still sniffing the fish and not showing a lot of interest. Scabbers has taken a shine to little Hermione and he goes along gives her a little nudge with his flipper to push her in the water so she will play.
Update: 2nd January 2010 - Hermione is in nursery pool 1 with Skeeter, Scabbers and Sirius Black. She is still refuses to put on weight and is being assisted with feeding by |
our Animal Care Team.
Update: 29th January 2010 - Hermione, after last weeks piece of good news that Hermione was eating fish, this week she has changed her mind and has started to rip them up again, and not really eating them. The Animal Care Team have now had to go back to assist feeding her again, but only during the mornings, hopefully she will change her mind again and will soon be back to eating for herself.
|Update: 10th February 2010 - We are very sad to report that on Thursday 4th February 2010 Hermione quietly passed away. The team had been working hard to get Hermione to put on weight over the past few months, and over the last few weeks had made great progress and had even managed to start to feed herself small amounts of fish. Unfortunately Hermione's case was more complicated then most due to being separated from her mother at such a young age. Despite the vets and the Animal Care Teams best efforts, on Thursday morning Hermione peacefully passed away.
