Singer Trevor Takes Helm at Seal Sanctuary
A new appointment at the Cornish Seal Sanctuary could be music to the ears of staff and residents alike!

Former professional singer Trevor Broome - who spent two years as a touring cabaret singer working in clubs and on cruise ships - has taken the helm as General Manager.

The 42-year-old first started singing to entertain regulars at the pub his parents ran for 25 years in Pebworth, near Stratford-on-Avon...The Mason´s Arms.

Having caught the entertainment bug, he went on to be a Pontins Bluecoat; to entertain holidaymakers on the island of Krk in the former Yugoslavia, and then to 10 years as entertainments manager for Warner Holidays.

Eventually Trevor found himself closer to home working as assistant entertainments manager at Warwick Castle, overseeing the regular jousting and other medieval attractions.

By the time he left for a new challenge at the National SEA LIFE Centre, Birmingham, six years later Trevor had graduated to shows and attractions manager.

The Castle and Sea Life are now a part of the same Merlin Entertainments Group of attractions to which the Seal Sanctuary also belongs.

"The more I learned about Sea Life and the Sanctuaries the more I wanted the next step in my career to be managing one of those attractions," said Trevor.

"I spent 18 months as operations manager at Birmingham learning the ropes, and when the vacancy at the Seal Sanctuary came up I jumped at it," he said.

Not only does Trevor relish the prospect of managing such a unique facility, he also views Cornwall as the ideal place for him and his wife Sarah and five-year-old daughter Eleanor to settle.

"I really think I can bring something extra to the Sanctuary with all my years of experience in entertainment," he said, "and from what I´ve seen already there really isn´t anywhere else quite like it."

Sadly, he is having to make one major sacrifice, namely relinquishing his lead-singer role with the covers band he and a few others from Warwick Castle formed six years ago - appropriately named "The Keep".

"I´m hoping there will be a local Cornish band in need of a vocalist," he said.
