On the 2nd November 2011 we received a call from the guys on the Isles of Scilly about a pup that would need treatment at the Sanctuary; the pup would be flown to Penzance and picked up by the team.
The seal arrived at the Sanctuary at around 5.10pm weighing in at 22 kilos and around 2 weeks old, the team gave the pup an in depth examination. The pup had a cut on its tongue; punctures on the rear left and right flipper and front flippers, plus puncture wounds to the underside and swelling to its abdomen. The pup a little boy has been named Bear Grylls.
Update: 23rd November 2011 - Bear Grylls is currently in pen number 3 in the main hospital.
Bear Grylls´s flipper tag number is 19 (green).
