BALOO - Rescued on 10th December 2006

On Sunday morning the 10th of December 2006 the Sanctuary received a call from two gentlemen on St Michaels Mount. They had found a pup with some kind of cloth around his neck. The guys removed the cloth after speaking to us and it was decided the pup needed to come back to the Sanctuary. Unfortunately we had to wait until the tide went out to get across the causeway, as it was far too rough to go across in a boat. At midday Tamara headed out to pick up the seal, a quick check over and it was straight back to the hospital at Gweek.
Because we had a full hospital, the pup had to be put in the temporary pen. This pup was heavy at 24 kilos and around 8-10 weeks old, also had wounds to it's flippers and a squint in its eye. All the wounds were cleaned and sprayed and eye drops and antibiotics were given this pup is another little boy and has been named Baloo.
