Alan - Arrived on 27th November 2007
Alan was rescued from Penzance on 27th of November 2007. He was 3 weeks old when we rescued him. He was malnourished and wheezing, he also had a cough and an eye infection. Alan weighs 11.5kg, and so, is in isolation until he gains some weight. He is currently being force fed, and is receiving antibiotics, eye drops, and pain relief for his illness. He must be free from infection before he can be moved to the main hospital.Alan - photo was taken by Amy
Hospital Update: 14th December 2007 - Alan is in hospital pen number 1 is doing really well; feeding by himself and putting on weight steadily.

Update: 8th February 2008 - Alan is slowly putting on weight, he needs to spend more time in the water and less time on the side of the pool.

Alan - Photo copyright of Simon Bone ( and Update: 6th May 2009 - Alan was spotted at a local haul-out along the north coast of Cornwall by Sue Sayer and Simon Bone on 29th August 2008, 10th September 2008, 16th November 2008, 27th November 2008, 20th December 2008, 22nd January 2009, 30th & 31st January 2009 and 23rd April 2009.
