|Baby Born at Sanctuary Returns|
This week baby Holly who was born at the National Seal Sanctuary has returned to visit the place where she was born.
On the 25th April 2010 nine months pregnant Susannah Sedgwick, her husband Adam and young son Ben visited the Sanctuary on what they thought would be an enjoyable family trip. However, baby Holly had other ideas!
After having pains down at the Sanctuary Café, the family decided to catch the Safari bus back to reception where they could then drive to hospital. Upon reaching reception, Susannah was already in labour and gave birth to Holly on the bus!
Site Foreman, Wayne Kempe, who was driving the Safari bus at the time, got out to help the guests off the bus only to find one of them about to have a baby!
An appeal was launched by the Sanctuary to find the family after not knowing where the family lived. Susannah then got in touch and this week re-visited the birth place of her little daughter.
"I don't really remember much about having Holly other than the pain!" said Susannah. "Ben wanted to see the new penguins so we thought we would do it when Adam had his day - I never dreamt it would be where Holly was born!".
The Sanctuary has given Holly and her family free entry to the Sanctuary for life and a bag of goodies for each of them.
"We were so excited to see Holly and her family after the shock of having her born here!" said the Sanctuary's Laura Ward. "I believe Susannah even had to put the National Seal Sanctuary as the place of birth on Holly's birth certificate!".
The couple have given Holly a middle name of Ceceilia - after trying to find a name that relates to seals!
To see where Holly was born, the Sanctuary is open daily from 10am.
