Julia Goldsworthy visits the National Seal Sanctuary

Local MP Julia Goldsworthy, Liberal Democrat member for Falmouth and Camborne, will be visiting the National Seal Sanctuary on Friday 16th March 2007.

Julia Goldsworthy is supporting the first ever British Tourism week by dropping in on one of Cornwall’s leading tourist attractions.

“I have visited the Seal Sanctuary before, and I’m really looking forward to visiting again” she said.

Applauding the Tourism Week initiative promoted by Visit Britain, she added: “Tourism is a hugely important source of revenue for Cornwall, and I hope many other MP’s will be making similar trips this week to gain a better appreciation of the wealth and diversity of the attractions we offer both domestic and foreign tourists.”

National Seal Sanctuary manager Sarah Vine was delighted that Julia Goldsworthy accepted the Sanctuary’s invitation, and is looking forward to introducing her to the pups the Sanctuary has rescued this winter and some of its permanent residents.

“She will also see how the Sanctuary is up-dating its pools, giving its residents a more natural environment”.

Sarah also praised the decision to stage a British Tourism Week.

“Our industry boosts the local economy by over £1 billion every year, and its contribution needs greater recognition” she said.

Julia’s visit to the National Seal Sanctuary will provide a good picture opportunity, as she feeds some of the Sanctuary’s residents.
